Hi Rick: Thanks for your research. I accept that I may have the date wrong, and also be wrong about the "going to the scrapyard" thing, at least for that ship/date. However, on the "Gadinia" maiden voyage in Dec 1972, we were overtaken by a Ben Line ship off the S tip of Africa, and it then broke down, and we overtook it. I may have confused two different Ben Line ships.
Hello again Jürgen, and thanks for the confirmation and back up.
I also searched, initially, on profiles, backed up by Miramar data, so I think we have the correct ship(s)!
Tschüss, Rick

@Patalavaca
Rick, I also have searched in Miramar all possible ships from Yob 1946 until 1956 and have only found Benalbanach and Benwyvis

Notchy, after spending an inordinate amount of time trying to identify this Ben liner, I have to suggest that you may have recorded the date of the photo incorrectly, or the vessel was not on her way to be scrapped!
The only two vessels that (I can find) which have an *exactly* matching profile were built for British India by Barclay Curle, Glasgow and were later transferred/sold to Ben Line:
1) Waroonga LR/IMO 5386320. Built 1957.
which, in 1968 became 'Pando Point, and in 1974 became
'Benwyvis' and was scrapped at Kaohsiung, arriving
on 30/01/1978.
2) Woodarra LR/IMO 5392678.
which, in 1968 became 'Pando Gulf' and in 1974 became
'Benalbanach' and was scrapped at Inchon, S. Korea,
arriving on 21/05/1978.
Due to the length of the visible name on the bow, my money is completely on 'Benalbanach'.
By the way, you have some super storm shots from your time on 'Donovania'.
Regards, Rick

If the photo is from December 1972, then I don't think this is "BENALBANACH". At this time the vessel was trading as "PANDO GULF", IMO:5392678, and it was not until 1974 that she was sold to Ben Line.
